Why is the Tamarack Nature Preserve Valuable?The Tamarack Nature Preserve (TNP) is a part of our local heritage. A walk through TNP takes you back to pre-settlement days because the variety and size of plant communities were once widespread in areas of Minnesota and Wisconsin. TNP is an accessible, highly diverse plant community reflective of northern Minnesota areas. Some plant communities are exceptionally diverse. TNP provides important natural wetland functions.It cleanses storm water, adds to local groundwater reservoirs, sustains native vegetation and habitat for wildlife.
